I would love that wagon in an unnatural way. But I'd swap on some polished style 5s. I love the style 5.

I bet if you showed him 60 Benjamins you would be the owner of a mildly to moderately sketchy v8 manual wagon.

Das ist gut. Bitte schön.
I call that one "sweaty M5" :-)

That is a clean 540i right there, yours?
I am so beholden to the CSL replicas, BBS', and AC Schnitzer type II's
And yes that is a color matched body-molding M5.

those are Racing type III's. I love the regular ACS Type III.

I don't know if you saw the Lemans blue one I did a NPCP post about the other day but that one is so nice I wanna buy it myself!! Doug Demuro was even interested in it.

I just don't have the money right now man, the money I do have, has to be put toward paying off debt and I am not going to finance anything ever again. I want to walk up to see one in about a year and count out probably about 1500-2000 short of the asking price, and drive off in my dream car.

I feel you man. I'm hoping to get one in a year too, also in cash. My dream E39 has just around 100k on it (maybe a little lower) with a asking price around $16k. I don't want one of the beat up $10k ones but I don't want one of the never driven $25k ones.

I would like one of the never driven ones so that when I add a BBK, exhaust, springs, airboxes, and brake cooling ducts I can resell the OEM parts I don't want to keep for not necessarily premium price but enough to generate some money for high quality aftermarket parts and maintenance, and long road trips to amazing roads.

Good plan. The only mods I plan on doing is a muffler delete/exhaust, coilovers (great resell value because they can be rebuilt), wheels, and brakes. Probably a few other things once I start tracking it. I still don't know if I wanna daily drive it yet. It would be awesome but I want to keep it as long as possible.

The E39 will be my mad max car. When I get mine, I will DD it, and repair it, maintain it, and drive it until the end of my life. The only times I will not drive it are for offroading and towing in my Rover.

Yes!! I don't even have the car yet but I'm already reading through Bentley repair manuals and online DIY's so when I get it I can do everything myself. I want to break 200k in this car and drive it until it REALLY dies. If the engine ever goes I'll either buy a low mileage S65 or drop an LSx in and go forced induction on either engine.

I don't have an E39. Someday though. I've found some really good-condition E39 M5s around. Like this one :
If only I could convince my wife that I need to trade my reliable, 15-month-old Korean hatchback with a 100k mile warranty, for what is essentially a German muscle car...

The trick is to buy her whatever she wants, build up a good pro tool set study up on the necessary and frequent maintenance needs the car will have and then go and get it. Never speak a word about something being broken and never let her drive it unless it is 100% showroom ready.
